Merlin joins Dickens and detectives, as Serena Davies runs down the best television coming this autumn       Merlin, BBC1 Feeling bereft without Doctor Who? The Beeb’s new Saturday-night family drama series has its own slew of supernatural goings-on, this time with a medieval theme. Merlin plays fast and free with Arthurian legend to imagine a time when the future King Arthur and the wise wizard Merlin were boys ? and Merlin could cast spells using his eyes. Newcomers Bradley James and Colin Morgan play the youngsters, John Hurt is a dragon. Based on a novel by Adrian Hodges, Survivors is a remake of the cult Seventies TV series. BBC favourites Max Beesley and Freema Agyeman star. Rectifying the curious neglect the 17th century has suffered from TV costume drama departments comes Peter Flannery’s (Our Friends in the North) megabucks historical romp. The truly talented Andrea Riseborough plays an aristocrat seduced by the roundheads’ cause during the English Civil War. Also starring John Simm, Dominic West and Peter Capaldi .November

After Bleak House, Andrew Davies takes on another massive Dickens tome. Little Dorrit is famously complex ? and hitherto obscure. But with casting that includes Matthew Macfadyen, Tom Courtenay and a veritable who’s who of British acting talent this version is bound to bring the book out of the shadows. Running until Christmas in those neat half-hour cliff-hangers that now seem de rigueur in Dickens adaptations. November

황폐한 집 이후 앤드류 데이비스가 내놓는 디킨슨의 작품으로 내용이 복잡하고 까다로워 꺼리던 작품이었지만 매튜 맥퍼딘이나 톰 커트니등 재능있는 영국의 배우들로 영상화 됐다. 11월 방영

n intriguing twist on the crime thriller, though it may lack for action sequences. The one-off Wired grapples with the murky world of high-level of bank fraud. Laurence Fox (Lewis) and Toby Stephens (Jane Eyre) are among the wheeler dealers. October

Wallander, BBC1
Kenneth Branagh returns to the small-screen to play detective Kurt Wallander, the booze-swilling, disease-raddled loner created by Swedish writer Henning Mankell. There’ll be three 90-minute single films, co-produced by Branagh’s own production company Yellow Bird. Mankell has sold 25 million Wallander books, so this one’s got a ready-made fan base. November

Typically meaty and politicised Channel 4 fare as a one-off drama chronicles the aftermath of the true-life murder of Thomas Hurndall, the British student shot on the Gaza strip by an Israeli sniper in 2003. Stephen Dillane and Kerry Fox star. November

A homegrown twist on High School Musical featuring a troupe of unknowns singing and dancing their way through training at a fictional performing arts school. Twenty-five “top” music writers, including Take That’s Gary Barlow, have written the tunes; talent-show alumni Arlene Phillips and David Ian are behind the concept. October

John Adams, More4
A star-studded US import gets More4’s Autumn schedule off to a weighty start. Paul Giamatti (Sideways) plays Adams, 18th-century campaigner for American independence and close pal of Thomas Jefferson; Laura Linney is his wife. The series is directed by our own Tom Hooper (Daniel Deronda, Longford) and went down well in the States. One paper called it “quite simply, as good as TV gets”. September

미국에서 수입 방영되는 작품이다. 18세기 미국의 독립 운동가인 존 아담스와 친구인 토마스 제퍼슨의 이야기로 아담스역으로는 사이드웨이의 폴지아매티가 출연하고 톰 후퍼가 감독했다. 미국에서도 좋은 평을 받았다고한다. 9월 방영
