Keitel joins Irish star in Life on Mars

Harvey Keitel is to star opposite Dublin actor Jason O'Mara in the US version of the hit BBC series 'Life on Mars'.

Variety reports that Keitel will play Detective Gene Hunt in the series; Irish actor Colm Meaney had previously been linked to the role, which was played by Philip Glenister in the BBC series.

O'Mara will play Sam Tyler, the modern-day detective who is transported back to the 1970s; the character was played in the BBC series by John Simm.

'The Sopranos' star Michael Imperioli will play Detective Ray Carling, the character was played in the BBC series by Dean Andrews.

'Life on Mars' will debut on US television in the autumn

하비 키에틀이 미국 버전의 진헌트 역을 맡았던 Colm Meaney를 대신해서 진헌트로 나올 예정이라는 소식이다!!

이미 한편의 파일럿이 나온 상태이긴 하지만 프로듀서인 David E Kelley도 손을 뗀 상태이고

얼마전엔 촬영지 역시 LA에서 뉴욕으로 옮겨 다시 제작하고 있다는 소식이 들렸었다.

이것도 모자라 가장 비중 있는 주인공인 진헌트역이 교체 된다니.

하비 키이틀이 아주 멋진 배우라 기대는 되지만 주인공이 교체될 정도면 아마 촬영지의 분위기도 그리 좋지는 못할거 같다.(하지만 개인적으로는 하비 키이틀의 연기력과 아우라라면 파일럿에 대한 실망감을 상쇄 시킬만한 색다른 분위기의 미국판 라이프온마스로 제작될 수도 있지 않을까 하는 기대감이 생기기도 한다.)

또 한가지 소식은 소프라노스의 배우 마이클 임페롤리(Michael Imperioli )가 BBC의 원작 드라마에서 딘앤드류스가 연기했던 레이 형사 역을 맡을것이라는 것이다.

소프라노스에서 다혈질적인 마피아 조직원역으로 연기력을 인정받았던 마이클

딘앤드류스와 마이클이 외모적인 분위기는 닮지 않았지만 다혈질적이고 단순한 성격의 레이 형사역에 잘어울릴것이라는 생각이다.

시작전부터 기력을 잃은 라이프온마스가 이 두사람의 투입으로 기사회생하기를 바래본다.

미국버전 라이프온마스는 올 가을 정식으로 방영될 예정이라고한다.
