Tennant faces back surgery

David Tennant is to undergo surgery for a prolapsed disc and will not return to his Hamlet role before Christmas, the Royal Shakespeare Company said.

The Doctor Who actor was said to be "gutted" after he was forced to pull out of this week's shows at London's Novello Theatre due to a back problem.

Relative unknown Edward Bennett stepped in to face the critics - and won standing ovations in the role.

데이비드 테넌트가 디스크 수술을 받고 크리스마스 전까지는 햄릿역에 돌아오지 못할 것이라고 로열 세익스피어 극단측에서 밝혔다.

데이비드는 이번주 런던 Novello Theatre에 서지 못하게된 것에 매우 맘이 아프다고 말했으며

그를 대신해 상대적으로 알려지지 않은 에드워드 베넷이 비평가들 앞에서 공연을 했고 관객들로 부터 기립 박수를 받았다.
